The African Cultural Arts Center (A.C.A.C.) is a local non-profit organization in Seattle, Washington whose mission is to preserve and share the rich traditions from West-African Cultures. The organization kicked off their capital campaign for their new center in April and our team has been collaborating to support the organization with the design and conceptual plan for their project that includes:
The Garfield Super Block in Seattle, Washington is a gathering place at the heart of the Central District Neighborhood. It is a historical city-wide destination, a space with a rich history of events, people, and a legacy of cultural diversity.
The goal of this community-led project is to provide improvements within the park to strengthen the overall site use and provide amenities that serve the neighborhood’s community events, gatherings, and other activities.
One of our partners decided that he was going to schedule in an hour every day after ‘school’ to sketch/doodle/design some quick, loose designs for cabins. Why cabins? Well, when you are stuck inside a 900 sqft townhome in an urban area that isn’t functioning, a cabin in the woods is a good fantasy.
As the days slowly get longer again, it is a good time to take a look back and see what we got up to this past year. This year has been filled with great clients and collaborators and we have been privileged to work with outstanding people throughout the year. In July 2019, new legislation was signed into law making it easier to build detached and attached accessory dwelling units in Seattle. Lets review some of those changes and what they mean if you are looking at building a backyard cottage.
